Historical liturgies in today's church - Simon Gillham, Mark Earngey (Zoom recording)

What should we do with historical liturgies? Is there a place for creeds, confessions, responsive readings and prayers in contemporary church services? Are they the vinyl resurgence in the midst of a digital age - bringing measured intentionality, ritual and historical timelessness to a world that is distracted and fleeting? Or...or are they more the VHS tapes...nostalgic, but irrelevant? Are they 'reps' leading to spiritual strength? Or are we just placing another weird barrier in front of those who want to know more about Jesus?

This is a recording of an online discussion with Simon Gillham (Vice Principal & Head of Mission - church planter at Maitland Evangelical Church) and Mark Earngey (Church history and doctrine - author of Reformation Worship: Liturgies from the Past for the Present) from Moore College to wrestle with some of these issues and implications for our church gatherings.
